Frequently Asked Question

Xplor Adventure Academy is a UK educational institute that partners with schools to blend technology, outdoor adventure, and education in structured, engaging programmes.

Our programmes and products include:

  • Intra-curricular activities (integrated into the school timetable)
  • ECA (Extra-Curricular Activities) after school
  • Speciality programmes tailored for specific skills and interests
  • Local expeditions for hands on outdoor learning
  • International expeditions for global adventure and cultural exchange

We believe real growth happens beyond the classroom. Our mission is to help young people build confidence, resilience, and teamwork through hands-on experiences, while also giving them access to the latest technologies and tools they’re excited about.

In Term One, we’re offering XTASC (Xplor Tactical Adventure & Survival Course),  a 10-session ECA programme for ages 8–16, worth 23 certified ECA hours.

All sessions are carefully planned, led by trained instructors, and linked back to school subjects such as science, history, and geography, making learning both practical and fun.

Activities include:

  • Adventure drones technology & media production
  • Navigation & communication tools
  • Bushcraft, wild cooking & pioneering
  • Bouldering & tactical archery
  • Scuba diving basics
…and more, all building up to an end-of-term expedition.

Yes! In our Orienteering & Navigation session, young people learn to use the latest navigation technologies such as OSM maps, AI-assisted route planning, and SOS devices, alongside drones for scouting routes and traditional map-and-compass techniques.

This approach makes the session fun, practical, and reinforces STEM learning while showing how modern tools can be applied in real adventure scenarios.

  • Sessions take place every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school (90 minutes each).
  • Young people are grouped by age, but parents can request changes if availability requires.
  • Most activities happen inside Dwight School premises.
  • The only off-site activity this term is diving, due to the school pool being unavailable. Xplor manages all transport and logistics, so parents simply pick up their children from school as usual after the session.

We provide all equipment, manage set-up and safety, and ensure smooth delivery of every activity. Parents only need to register and collect their children from school; we take care of everything else.

Our programmes are delivered by qualified instructors and follow the relevant British national governing body standards for each activity.

The Xplor framework is also aligned with UK NCFE requirements and other recognised agencies to ensure quality and consistency.

For example:

  • SSI (Scuba Schools International) standards are followed for diving activities.

Safety and Safeguarding are our top priority. All instructors are:

  • Fully trained in safeguarding and first aid
  • Security background-checked
  • Operating under strict safeguarding policies

All safeguarding tools and policies follow the British National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) guidelines, ensuring best practice is followed daily. Our safeguarding standards are independently reviewed to guarantee the highest level of safety and care.
